About

The Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation was founded in 1980 to preserve the architectural heritage and cultural history of Greenwich Village, the East Village, and NoHo. GVSHP is a leader in protecting the sense of place and human scale that define the Village’s unique community.

This image archive highlights the history of the people and built environment of Greenwich Village and surrounding areas. It has been assembled over the years through generous donations and currently consists of nine collections- Claire Tankel Collection, Victor Bonanno Collection, Sam Remo Collection, Julie Rinaldini Collection, Doris Diether Collection, William Eppes Collection, NY Bound Bookshop Collection, Nat Kaufman Collection, and Evelyn Haynes Collection.
